The trailer for Juanita Wilson's second feature film 'Tomato Red' has been published on-line. Juanita adapted the film from Daniel Woodrells book of the same name.
It's a such a beautiful and atmospheric film that demands to be seen on the big screen.
It's been released here in Ireland on March 3rd by Element Pictures Distribution.
Today I made a recording at my allotment, I was hoeing and raking a vegetable patch in preparation for spring planting.
Although the allotment is in a built up urban area inside a large park, there is a lovely sense of peace when one is left to the task at hand with only a gulp of magpies or a murder of crows for company. Today it was largely a gulp of distant magpies with a few solitary crows and some neighbourhood dogs.
The picture below is a section of the bed after the work. By June this soil will hopefully be enriching red and white onions.

So this here marks my first blog/field recording post!
In an effort to force myself into more frequent field recordings and then to have somewhere to share them I have decided this year to attempt to post on a relatively steady basis here on my site. I plan to post both field recordings and details on release dates of any film I've been working on.
Today to counter the damp winter January blues I listened back to this recording that I recorded six months earlier on a June bank holiday weekend in my back garden. For me it has that summery doors wide open feeling of the suburbs with twittering birds, light garden chimes, insect fly-bys, distant ice-cream van, distant train, burbling radio, distant voices, obligatory car alarm and the inescapable plane overhead.
It was recorded on a Zoom H4.
BTW the photo was taken in September as evidenced by the flowering Cosmos.
